Within the objective to inspire people to “move differently”, MOVE DIFFERENT is a 3 day Movement/Design Pop Up Exhibition produced by MDR.STUDIO from Oct 19-Oct 21. Examining our relationship with movement through an interactive space, workshops, performances, and talks, MDR exhibition shows a full house of arts and installations including big scale audio visual parkour bars, photographies, clothing, product designs as well as my multiplayer interactive projection project: "Avatar”.
Inspired by the concept in dance when dancers are often imagining themselves as weird creatures, as animals, cartoon characters or obtaining energy flows through the body, as well as aligning with the idea of motivating players to move differently, and each character has chosen on purposely within very unique body type (huge, tiny, long-arms, animals, robots, very long hair, etc), as well as the ability to able trigger hidden special skills and effects (flying, invoke chakra or throwing space rock, etc) by moving in certain way.
The system is developed using Unity and Kinect v2, within proximally a week of working hours for completion, starting from concept design for 6 sets cartoon themes, gathering open-source models, rigging or re-rigging in Cinema4D, environmental design, basic animations, scripting, multi-user testing and physical installation.
